Hosting an event: charges and booking
Whether your conference or event is large or small, the Museum can arrange a package to suit all budgets. Contact the events team or download a booking form for a full tarriff.
A reception in the Museum
Conferences organised and paid for by Oxford University departments will be offered a discount of 25% on the hourly rate on weekdays only. No further discounts are available to University departments.
Daily rate: hire periods of longer than 9 continuous hours in a single day qualify for a discount of 10%.
Set up charges
'Set up' is charged at 50% of the full hourly rate and applies to both catering and lecture theatre set up, plus dismantling time. No further discount is available on 'set up' time. VAT is currently not applicable to room hire.
Reservations can only be made in writing, and will be held for 30 days. To secure a booking a 30% non-refundable deposit must be paid on invoice.
- Hiring is strictly at the discretion of the Director who reserves the right to withdraw permission at any time. Rooms are not available for public hire for profit.
- No responsibility can be taken by the Museum or the University for any loss of property, accident or mishap to persons using the premises, and hirers must understand that they are not covered by insurance whilst in the building. Hirers are responsible for any damage to property.
- We do not permit the serving of red wine as this can stain the stone floor.
- Minimum hire period 1 hour (not including set-up time).
