Explore the Collections

Welcome to our Collections Online homepage. We constantly add new material as we digitise the Museum's natural history collection of over 7 million objects.

Our goal is to create a single unified database for all the Museum's collections, which will allow access for learning and research.

At present this database holds the Archive Collections, the butterflies and moths from Life Collections, and the minerals from Earth Collections. A total of 32,788 estimated records are currently available, which includes 5,059 type specimens.

Visit our main website to get more information on the diversity of our Zoology (including Entomology), Palaeontology, Mineralogy and Petrology, Archive, Art and Architecture collections.
