OUMNH Number: 238  
Name and quarry location: Lumachella di Ticino, from Ticino, Lombardy, Italy  
Geological description: Limestone; a fossiliferous nodular peloidal biomicrite, in places a biopelsparite, with large, spar-replaced gastropods and other molluscs. It has well-developed stylolites.  
Comments: The River Ticino flows through Lombardy into Switzerland, where it gives its name to Canton Ticino. Exactly where this stone is from is not known, but it is more likely to have been from the vicinity of the Italian stretch of the river.
