Geological description: Not ‘alabaster’. A fine-grained calcarenite limestone.
Comments: The Verona/Vicenza area, Veneto, Italy is indicated as the provenance by the black number painted on the reverse (see pdf of further information about Verona specimens). The stone is a limestone and not a travertine ('alabaster'). Corsi's locality is most probably Alcenago, near Stallavena, in Val Pantena, although the stone contains rhombic crystals of ?dolomite like those seen in specimens from Mizzole in Corsi's collection.
