Name and quarry location: Alabastro di Pierosara, from Pierosara, near Fabriano, Ancona, Marches, Italy  
Geological description: Compact travertine composed of coarse columnar calcite.  
Comments: This specimen is cut parallel with the bedding and finished with a particularly high polish.The medieval village of Pierosara, famed for its castle, is in the Parco Regionale della Golla Rossa e do Frasassi, an area of hot spring activity, travertine quarries and limestone caves, so the area of Corsi's locality is probably correct.
