Name and quarry location: | Mischio di Casale, from Casale, Verona, Veneto, Italy, is doubtful |
Geological description: | Limestone breccia-conglomerate with scattered large bioclasts of marine organisms in a creamy microcrystalline matrix containing forams. Note extensive suturing of grain boundaries, and calcite filled fractures. |
Comments: | 'Casale' may denote a village or hamlet, or refer to Casale di Sotto, Casale di Sopra, or one of the various settlements called Casale in the hills outside Verona. Note this specimen, with its bright yellow filler, resembles no. 454 'Breccia del Giannicolo'. There is nothing to confirm it comes from the Verona area. |
