| Name and quarry location: | Diaspro tenero di Sicilia, tigrato di Trapani, from Custonaci, Trapani, Sicily, Italy |
| Geological description: | Micritic or microsparite limestone containing a mass of Teredo or similar wood-boring bivalves; no evidence of the wood itself remeins. |
| Comments: | The distinctive colour palette of buff, olive green and scarlet gives confirmation that this is a sample of diaspro tenero di Sicilia (soft jasper of Sicily). We are informed that it most probably comes from Custanaci in the province of Trapani. |
