Name and quarry location: Gesso di Matelica, alabastro di Matelica, from Matelica, Macerata, Marches, Italy  
Geological description: Micritic limestone containing bands of gypsum crystals, as spots and patches in fine-grained compact gypsum (alabaster).  
Comments: Metalica was a source of gypsum according to Jervis (1889). However much of this specimen is limestone rather than gypsum.
