Name and quarry location: Pietra dell'Etna, from Mt. Etna, Catania, Sicily, Italy  
Geological description: An intermediate volcanic rock with abundant phenocrysts of feldspar and sparse pyroxene crystals set in very fine grained grey matrix. The feldspars are strongly aligned. They are probably plagioclase, and so the rock may be a porphyritic andesite.
