Name and quarry location: Basalte di Bolsena, from Bolsena, Viterbo, Lazio, Italy  
Geological description: Metatuff with abundant quartz and hornblende crystals of varying size up to 2mm in a poorly sorted crystal-lithic matrix. Shows weakly defined flow-banding.  
Comments: Corsi's provenance is probably correct. Basalts and tuffs of the Pleistocene Vulsini volcanic complex form extensive deposits in the area of Lake Bolsena, Lazio, Italy. They are widely used as building stones in the area.
