OUMNH Number: 975
Name and quarry location: most probably breccia Medici di Siena, from Siena, Tuscany, Italy
Geological description: Fine-grained calcite marble breccia; a sheared and metamorphosed limestone breccia.
Comments: This stone is calcareous and belongs with Corsi's breccias, not his jaspers. The texture and colouring supports those who have said it is from Siena, the breccia now called Medici di Siena. However, comparison with samples in the Naturhistorisches Museum Wien suggests it could be a variety of breccia violetta from Seravezza, Tuscany.
