CAT PRINTS

Cat prints

There is no doubt that the stone carving in the museum is of exceptional quality and it would be impossible to choose a favourite. But for me these cat paw prints are my personal favourite. I have this image in my mind, that in circa 1854 rows of clay bricks were lined up in a yard ready for firing the following day, when a cat walked over them. Little would it have known that this moment in time would be preserved and admired some 156 years later. Whenever I point this out to visitors it is guaranteed to raise a smile.
