As the fundraiser for the Museum my favourite objects have to be the donation boxes! The Museum provides a wonderful free resource for everyone who wants to come and visit our collections, and is the safe-keeper of the incredibly important treasures housed within. It requires financial support however in order to maintain the building, keep the collections in the conditions that they require, and to ensure that it can continue to undertake activities ranging from ground-breaking scientific work through to family-friendly activities every weekend. I am particularly heartened when I see all of the orange gift aid envelopes in the main donation box, as gift aid currently allows us to reclaim an extra 22% of a donation – which really adds up and makes a difference. The generosity of our visitors is vital to the future of the Museum, and ensures that all of our visitors can come along seven days a week to see our collections and choose their favourite object!
