The golden toad

Female golden toad

The golden toad
This is a photograph of a female golden toad. It is very different from the male golden toad. It is a greeny-black colour with red and orange spots down its sides, and is generally bigger than the male.
There are many examples of animals where the male and female don't look the same. The male and female golden toad are very different from each other, but can you think of other examples? Why do you think that there is a difference between males and females?
