What's happening: Tiny tadpoles begin to develop within the egg. They feed on yolk stores and do not rely on their parents for anything.

Need to know: Frogs and toads often lay hundreds of eggs. Frogs tend to lay their eggs in one globby mass. Toads usually lay their eggs in strings.
