Minerals used to make aeroplanes
Bauxite Aeroplanes and spacecraft are made of aluminium and titanium. Aluminium comes from a material called bauxite. Titanium comes from the minerals rutile and ilmenite.

Both metals are:

Strong
Lightweight
Rigid

Rutile
Bauxite (top right), ilmenite and rutile are used to make the metal parts of aeroplanes
