A celebration of the life of Charles Darwin (1809 - 1882) - Exhibition
The exhibition opened on the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth, and we celebrate his life with portraits, paintings, photographs and a narrative from his own journals and autobiography.
February 12th - December 31st - Evolution Solution - Family friendly event
How did humans stand up for the first time, what happened to the whale's flippers? So many evolution questions, come and find out the answers. Trails, arts and crafts light up one of the best theories on earth!
May 25th and 26th, 1 - 4pm, drop-in - What's bugging Darwin? - Family friendly event
Billions of beetles and creeping crabs. Find out why Darwin was so fascinated by bugs. Handle live insects and make your own 'museum collection.'
June 27th, 1 - 4pm, drop-in - Richard Dawkins and Richard Harries in conversation
A debate between Richard Dawkins and the retired bishop of Oxford, Richard Harries, was held in the Museum to celebrate Darwin's birthday. The 'conversation' echoed the famous debate that took place here in 1860 between Thomas Henry Huxley and the then bishop of Oxford, Samuel Wilberforce.
