| Geological description: | Black limestone with white calcite-filled fractures and abundant stylolites. Stylolites and thin fractures contain yellow siderite. |
| Comments: | Jervis (1889) records an Eocene limestone (Alberese) blackish-grey with white veins from Chianciano, Prov. di Siena, in the region of Montepulciano (sic) saying it was used locally for columns etc. However the sample resembles no.129, and is most probably from Elba, Portovenere ('portargento'), or Carrara. |
