Corsi 158, approx. 145 x 73 x 40 mm, © Oxford University Museum of Natural History

OUMNH Number: 158
Name and quarry location: Marmo mischio di Monte Bolca, from Monte Bolca, Val d'Illasi, Verona, Veneto, Italy
Geological description: Heavily recrystallised foraminiferous limestone. Large benthic forams are visible on the side of specimen.
Comments: The Verona/Vicenza area, Veneto, Italy is indicated as the provenance by the number painted on the reverse (see pdf of further information about Verona specimens). Mischio, meaning literally 'mixed', is normally a term used for breccias. However this fossiliferous limestone is probably correctly provenanced by Corsi. Eocene fossiliferous limestones are obtained from Monte Bolca.
