Fossiliferous pel-sparite limestone. It has abundant peloids and intraclasts of micritic limestone in a sparry matrix. Some layers are rich in bivalves, others are edgewise breccia together with fragments of laminated 'algal' cyanobacterial micrite.

Perhaps from Menaggio, on the west bank of Lake Como, Lombardy, Italy, but resembles astracane di Verona and is more likely to be from the Verona/Vicenza area, Veneto, Italy, the provenance indicated by the painted number on the back of the specimen (see Verona.pdf for more information).
