| Geological description: |
Biosparite limestone with abundant skeletal debris of larger benthic forams (Nummulites, Assilina, Alveolina), small benthic forams, calcareous algae, echinoderms, and bryozoans. Note the pervasive incipient stylolites. It is probably of Middle Eocene age.

The painted number on the back of the specimen indicates a Verona/Vicenza provenance for this limestone (see Verona.pdf for more information). (see pdf of further information about Verona specimens). Usually, specimens labelled 'Sant'Ambrogio' are from Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella in the province of Verona, but this sample is more likely to be from the Chiampo area west of Vicenza. Moregia means 'blackish' so the significance of this word (is it a description or a place name?) and 'Sant'Ambrogio' is not clear.
