| Comments: | Broccatello di Siena or Siena marble from Monte Arrenti near Sovicille, Province of Siena, Italy. The finest yellow Siena marble comes from the quarries at Monte Arrenti, near Sovicille, in Siena, according to Jervis (1889). The broccatello comes from the same locality. A very similar stone to this in the Watson Collection (University of Cambridge is called Montarenti Light Siena. Watson (1916) cites its use in the chancel of Bristol Cathedral, and notes the demand for its use in the USA, where it was used, for example, in the Music Hall of the Carnegie Library, Pittsburg in 1901. |
