OUMNH Number: 472
Name and quarry location: perhaps Chiampo, from Ponte Salaro, near Rome is doubtful; this is more likely to be from the area of Chiampo, in Vicenza.
Geological description: Limestone; a foraminiferal ruddite with abundant nummulites and other benthic forams, algal grains, mollusc fragments and limestone intraclasts. It has extensive solution of grain boundaries, creamy micritic cement containing microfossils. Extensive use has been made of an orange filler.
Comments: The Verona/Vicenza area, Veneto, Italy is indicated as the provenance by the black number painted on the reverse (see pdf of further information about Verona specimens). It may perhaps be another sample from the area of Chiampo in Vicenza (see no.255).
