Name and quarry location: Pietra del Vesuvio, from Mt. Vesuvius, Naples, Campania, Italy  
Geological description: Ignimbrite. A devitrified welded rock containing megacrysts of simple and lamellar-twinned feldspars, smaller crystals of ferromagnesian minerals, and fine-grained rounded clasts. The compression of the shards is evident in the side of the specimen.
