| Comments: |
Jervis (1881; 212). describes a similar jasper from the Cassaro quarter of Palermo. However, Tata, (1772) refers to Cassaro as a locality in Castro nuovo (sic) for a dark green jasper with marks of white and dark yellow. That this is more likely the source of Corsi's specimens is confirmed by the presence of a number of very similar specimens in the Naturhistorisches Museum Wien labelled as coming from Riena. According to Tata, Riena is another location in Castronovo.
