Name and quarry location: Porfido Trentino, porfido Atesino, from Bolzano area, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy  
Geological description: Pophyritic rhyolite with phenocrysts of quartz, feldspar and biotite.  
Comments: This porphyry, an ignimbrite deposit from the Permian Atesino-Cima d'Asta volcanic complex, is also known as porfido Atesino. It is one of a number of porphyries still quarried in the area around Bolzano, and all known as porfido Trentino.
