Name and quarry location: almost certainly Vytina black, from Vytina, Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece  
Geological description: Fine-grained black limestone with white fragments of rudist bivalves; Cretaceous age.  
Comments: This stone, from near the village of Vytina (Vitina), was worked in ancient Roman times, but most quarrying has taken place in the 20th century. This is the bigio morato of some authors, for example Mielsch (1985).
