| Geological description: | Compact banded travertine composed mainly of fine-grained calcite, with some bands particularly rich in included red hematite. Light brown areas are wax filler. |
| Comments: | Alabastro ciliegino, with its distinctive bubbly appearance, is often found in collections of ancient stones but the location of the quarries is not known. The name 'ciliegino' means little cherries, today used especially in the context of cherry tomatoes.This is alabastro cliegino cut perpendicular to the bedding, and consequently the spherular effect is only visible on the sides of the specimen.
