Name and quarry location: Alabastro eburneo d'Orte from Orte, Viterbo, Lazio, Italy  
Geological description: A compact, fine-grained and finely banded, pure calcite travertine.  
Comments: According to Jervis (1889), Orte, between Viterbo and Terni, is a source of 'alabastri' and Mary Porter writing in 1966, confirmed her view that this stone was from Orte.
