OUMNH Number: 409
Name and quarry location: Semesanto, from Isle of Skyros, Sporades, Central Greece
Geological description: Polymict sheared limestone breccia in clay-rich matrix.
Comments: Semesanto is the small-clast form of breccia di Sciro. It is very well sorted, and tends to occur in pods and areas of limited extent withing the larger clast breccia. The name semesanto, used for small lozenges made by apothecaries, has been applied to other small clast breccias, for example breccia d'Arbe (no.426) and beccia di Casteldacchia (no.410).
