view of stone 433

Corsi 433, approx. 145 x 73 x 40 mm, © Oxford University Museum of Natural History

OUMNH Number: 433
Name and quarry location: 'Breccia di Brentonega di Dolce nel Veronese', from Dolce, Verona, Veneto, Italy, or from Brentónico, Trentino, Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy
Geological description: Jurassic ?syn-sedimentary breccia with micritic limestone clasts, sparry matrix, stylolites and spar-filled voids.
Comments: The Verona/Vicenza area, Veneto, Italy is indicated as the provenance by the painted number on the back of the sample (see pdf of further information about Verona specimens). Note that the next village to Dolcè is called Brentino Belluno or on touring club map, Breónio. Could this be the reason for the confusing name given by Corsi? Brentónico is some distance away.
