Name and quarry location: Diaspro di Volterraio, from Volterraio, island of Elba, Livorno, Tuscany, Italy  
Geological description: A siliceous argillaceous deposit, perhaps a deep sea red clay.  
Comments: It is also possible that this is a ferruginous radiolarian chert, or a fine-grained calcareous deposit that has been silicified by igneous activity in the region of Volterraio.
