Name and quarry location: 'Diaspro delle Alpi', from the Alps  
Geological description: Chert; a silicified limestone with abundant forams and other fossil debris.  
Comments: Jaspers are by definition coloured by iron oxides, so this stone is perhaps better termed 'chert'.
