Comments: | This is a variety of breccia corallina, quarried near the village of Vezirhan in Bilecik, Turkey close to a tributary of the River Sakarya. In Roman times the area was Bythinia and the river was called Sagarius. No.404 is a very typical example. The colour of the matrix can vary from orange to salmon pink or brown. Limestone is still quarried in the area under the trade name rosalia, but it is beige coloured with only slender veins of orange. |
