The Verona/Vicenza area, Veneto, Italy is indicated as the provenance by the black number painted on the reverse (see pdf of further information about Verona specimens). Marmo cenerino means ashy marble, although it is a limestone, and is probably correctly named by Corsi. Eocene fossiliferous limestones are obtained from Monte Bolca. Note, this specimen is very different from no.263 which bears the same name.
