Corsi 151, approx. 145 x 73 x 40 mm, © Oxford University Museum of Natural History

OUMNH Number: 151
Name and quarry location: Bardiglio fiorito, from the Apuan Alps, Tuscany, Italy
Geological description: Tectonite of fine- to medium-grained white or grey calcite marble fragments in black graphite-rich marble; crushed and folded.
Comments: Lunegiana is the mountainous area north of La Spezia, in Liguria. This specimen is a very good example of bardiglio fiorito from the Apuan Alps. A very similar specimen in the Watson Collection in Cambridge comes from the Farnocchia quarry in Seravezza. Because the bardiglio are found in many locations in the Apuan Alps the provenance of Corsi's specimen cannot be given with such certainty.
