Corsi 213, approx. 145 x 73 x 40 mm, © Oxford University Museum of Natural History

OUMNH Number: 213
Name and quarry location: Colombino della Punta Pina, from Punta Pina, island of Elba, Livorno, Tuscany, Italy
Geological description: Brecciated, micritic limestone with extensive calcite-filled fractures.
Comments: The locality given by Corsi is probably correct although a sample of 'Sienna marble' (sic) in the Yorkshire Museum is very similar in colour and fracturing. Zuccagni-Orlandini (1842) describes the veined flesh-pink and grey marble of Punta Pina, on the north coast of Elba.
