Name and quarry location: Travertino di Monte Catini, from Montecatini Terme, Pistoia, Tuscany, Italy  
Geological description: Limestone, brown ferruginous in places, composed of brecciated travertine, algal fragments and other bioclasts. Cavities are mostly filled with sparry calcite.  
Comments: Corsi sees the round ossicles of 'encrinites' (crinoids) in this sample, hence its inclusion among the lumachellas. Jervis (1889) describes the travertine from Montecatini di Val di Nievole, Prov. di Lucca as compact, white and in places grey, coloured yellow with iron oxide... '
