Name and quarry location: Quartz 'rock crystal', from Madagascar  
Geological description: Part of a large single crystal of rock crystal, the colourless variety of quartz. Some gas inclusions are evident along internal crystal planes.  
Comments: Rock crystal was being brought from Madagascar to Europe as early as the 18th century and it was one of the main sources of large colourless quartz crystals in Corsi’s time.
