| Geological description: | Marly limestone; a Cretaceous-Eocene pelagic limestone from the Scaglia Rossa Formation, the colouring constrained by microfractures to give a 'ruin marble' effect. It is mottled with the shells of planktonic microfossils, and it has prominent stylolites and en echelon sets of white calcite-filled fractures. |
