| Name and quarry location: | Pietra felce dell'Elba, pietra paesina, from the island of Elba, Livorno, Tuscany, |
| Geological description: | Micritic limestone or calcareous marl showing minor fracture constrained iron-staining giving faint paesina effect. It has abundant areas of dendritic manganese oxides. |
| Comments: | 'Felce' is Italian for fern and alludes to the dendritic manganese oxides in this stone. It may perhaps be from San Martino, in the middle of the island, where Zuccagni-Orlandini (1842) says a compact limestone with markings of beautiful dendrites, abounds. |
